• Buy Lolita Clothes at Taobao Price – Free Service Fee Until Dec 30th

Greetings! It’s been a while since my last post. Some things happened in the between, and I have a new place to live now. It’s a quiet residence besides the river, with a lot of trees. When I show in lolita clothes, I often get kind or curious looks from grandpa and grandma living around.

Earlier I found this site named my-lolita-dress.com, and their service sounds fun: They offer taobao shopping of lolita clothes service – quite contrary to my general definition of a lolita dress shop. Most of these lolita sites I have seen before, sell replicas at a cheap price. For person like me who doesn’t have too much money while have a quite expensive hobby (yea, lolita fashion is high priced for me), I don’t totally against them. But what I really want, I believe most others are too, are the good quality lolita clothes.

There are some brands from taobao, which have proven feedbacks, and do great with these lolita dresses, shoes, headdress, etc, but I have trouble communicate with them, have trouble to pay, have trouble for shipping – they just don’t have international service.

Great news for me, that I have found this site. They offer the brands lolita dresses at taobao price, and we only need to pay a 10% service fee.

What’s even better, they are offering it for FREE now: Two weeks until Dec 3oth, as the sincere thanks for the supportive customers.

Please don’t miss this chance, if you are still thinking about buying some items. I checked,  including the products already at the site(so it’s English for you to easy check the clothes), or as long as you have a link.

Lolita in Manga – Battle Vixens

Battle Vixens, is also called Ikki Tousen which is a direct translate of the pronunication from Japanese. As a manga series, it has greatly used the story background and plot from the famous Chinese novel: Romance of the Three Kingdoms. I am not sure how the name is translated this way, but after my reading of the novel, I don’t really think it’s so romantic as it’s the story about several kingdoms compete and protect their own land. There are many heroes showing in the time, each with his/her own unique power and strength, as well as the characters. There are friendship inspired by times and times of battles while struggle between life and death, or the loyalty to the kings from the subordinates, but I can’t really see much love, as most people think from the benefits of the whole country.
After recreated into the manga, one obivious change is the costumes. Instead of the traditional Chinese clothes, most characters are designed with quite different uniforms, to meet the main readers’ desires. Among these factores, the Lolita fashion has also been employed. There’s a character called Teni, who shows in the Gothic Lolita dress in the manga.

Black Gothic Lolita Dress for Teni in Battle Vixens

Teni’s Gothic Lolita clothes comes with the ruffles headdress, one piece Lolita dress with silver buckles and white ruffles, and same style shoes. The whole set comes either in black and white, or red and white, as the most classic appearance of Teni in manga Battle Vixens. Most of all, her weapon is matching with the gothic style too: two giant sword like spades with delicate camouflages. From the sea-blue eyes, you could see a female warrior, with the perfect combination of the sweetness from the Lolita dress, and the strength from the facial expression and the weapons.

Red Lolita Dress is Also Charming

Follow Kyoko Fukada to Enjoy Sweet Lolita Appearance

Earlier there’s a post about Kamikaze Girls, which is a well-known Japanese movie around the Lolita fashion, with a lot of beautiful sweet Lolita dresses inside.  It’s the formal debut of the Lolita costumes in movies as the main theme, and right from it, the brand Baby the Star Shines, mainly for the sweet Lolita, has expanded its influence among this area. However, you may not realize that the heorine of the movie is played by Kyoko Fukada, and she has been the leading princess in Japanese Lolita fashion world too, and following the cute style from the movie, she’s created a lot of other beautiful Lolita images right after.

Although it’s hard to say which Lolita appearance of hers is best, and even impossible to say that Kyoko’s the best star to contribute the development of Lolita fashion in Japan, I write this post to bring together some of her photos, only with the purpose to share a ready-made beauty in this style, and I believe more or less, there’s something for us to draw from these and enhance our own Lolita dresses. Kyoko Fukada’s features the round face and round eyes, just like babies, and we could see how she’s dressing up and do the makeup.

The first series is themed around Kyoko and cute fat black white panda. the makeup looks very light, with the modest pink lipstick, and the big eyes are emphasized. If you notice, the details are very important: her fingertips are matching style panda camouflage. When they are taking photo together, it’s hard to tell which is more pretty, Kyoko or the panda?

Do You Want to Enjoy the Beauty of Lolita Fashion Together with Me?

Black Ruffles Lolita Dress Tailor Experience

Because of my bodyline(162cm while 70kg weight), it’s a little bit hard for me to enjoy some sweet lolita costumes, as many others do. I love to wear my skyblue alice style lolita dress, or pink white lace lolita skirt with white blouse, but it’s very time consuming to pick up the right set, avoiding to make myself look too “big”.

When I was browsing around, I have fallen in love with a black lolita dress, with short sleeves half-round neck, bandages at front chest, and layered short skirt. I tried to locate where it’s from as seems it’s not the very newest style either, but from my past experience, should be suitable for me. And no result. I did see the photos at several online sellers, but they couldn’t provide detail photos and I have doubt for it. As I have the habit of tailoring my own daily wear costumes at a couple of tailor shops, one day when I was walking in the cloth market, and search a suitable thin chiffon material for a summer blouse, the thought just came over and I thought I could tailor this dress rather than buy it somewhere.

With this thought and my straight character, I went directly to one of my tailors, and inquired about it. She told me that from the photos, this one piece dress doesn’t use any cotton material, as most other lolita costumes do, but in tulle or silk. As my pursuit of perfection, I have gone to a shop for all kinds of silk, and found two black cloth for the dress. One is with very very slight shimmer effect on the surface, and not transparent, for the top of the dress. The other is the very transparent and light silk, for the layers of the skirt. Although it’s easy to see through for only one layer, there are about three layers involved no matter for which location, so that won’t be a problem. The silk’s very top quality and good touch feeling. The price’s not bad either, about 10USD per meter, and I got about six meters total for the dress.

After I carried the silk to my tailor, we began discussing about the details. This dress is very delicate. For example, the neck trim, is tailored by narrow ruffles, and the short sleeves, are poofy, also with ruffles at the edge. The front chest’s decorated by two vertical lines of ruffles, and hide inside is, is the buttons for me to tie the bandages. It’s the same design for the back too. Then it’s the skirt, composed by layers of ruffles, which will cost a lot of cloth. In the original photos for this dress, there’s a line of lace at the bottom of the skirt, and I have skipped that.

With all settled, the next step is to soak the silk in water, as the oriental silk cloth will shrink with the first water wash, and with the soak, we got about 80% meters of the original cloth. You could see now why I need six meters total for the dress. After this step, tailor has cut the dresses, then spent about three days for the tailor only.

After one week’s eager waiting, I have got my dress last Friday. I tried it on, and just as I guessed, the dress is very liquid and fully smooth my bodyline, while the style and color also helped make me look great. I am very satisfied with the final result, and this is why I am writing this now, and share my pleasure with you.

Together with the tailor fee, I have spent about 160 USD total on this lolita dress. And there are no gloves or petticoat. However, this is a very beautiful dress and I could wear it without any problem even without the petticoat. From the original photos I guess the model’s not wearing any petticoat either. The tailor told me if I have more cloth, the skirt could be even more poofy. I have taken this tip into my mind, for next dress.

Anyhow, the tailor also told me that the silk I bought is very good, and if I want to save money, there are also a few other kinds of silk involved. The silk cloth’s prices different as how much silk they contain, and the more it contains, the more expensive it is. With the price lower, the silk’s still good enough and won’t influence the visual effects and quality, except the hand-touch’s a little bit tougher compared with the softest I got.

    Lolita Fashion for Boys

Talking about the Lolita fashion, most people would think it’s something for female. The truth is, with decades of developement, there are various sub-styles for Lolita, and there is one style called Kodona, which is suitable for boys who love Lolita too.

Kodona Lolita, is also called Ouji/Prince Lolita. Maybe it’s because that’s how the prince dresses up in most Lolita princess. The Kodona Lolita clothes are suitable for boys/male too, because they involve a lot of masculine features. One of the most obvious  feature of this style, is the prince pants, or knee length capri-style pants, decorated by lace sometimes. Other items to go with it are the suspenders, ties, and bowler caps. The ties include the general simple style ties and the bow ties composed of several layers with ruffles. With pants, the knee length or longer socks are still worn to cover the legs.  This style could be simplified, or extrvagant, and to make it more complicated, you could also add in things like spats, canes, top hats and capes. But no matter how, the primary principle is to keep the boy parts intact.

The hairstyle for this is also limited to short boyish style. If there’s long hair it’s often tied into a bun and hide below the hat. Except hat, you almost can’t see any other headdress suitable for this. And the makeup is also minimized, except the dark color around the eyes sometimes.

However, you may already realize this, the Kodona Lolita is suitable for boys to wear, but not necessarily. Most girls love to dress up in this style too, and most Kodona are done by girls too.  It’s called boystyle, and we could have that among girls too, right? Not only in Lolita, in other modern clothes fashion there are brands which tend to boystyle for girls too.
